They’re different, but the results were unexpected. A new study found that the same medication may be associated with the symptoms of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
The study, published in theArchives of Internal Medicine, found that people taking Nexium were 2.8 times more likely to suffer from kidney-related side effects, like swelling and pain.
However, the study found that those taking the drug Nexium had a greater likelihood of having other conditions like diabetes and asthma, which can cause kidney problems. They also found that those on chronic use of Nexium were 2.8 times more likely to experience anaphylaxis (an allergic reaction) from heartburn.
